Cycling on the 403 near Chippenham

The North Wilts Rivers Route is a 16km shared use cycle and pedestrian path established in 2000 by North Wilts DC. 7km is owned by eight different private landowners and leased to Wiltshire Council.
The leases are all due for renewal on 1st April 2019 and the non-renewal of the leases and consequent closure of the cycle-path had been approved by the Council’s Corporate Leadership Team as part of the revenue savings plan for 2019/20.  This has now been postponed subject to consultation This means that the cycle-path should remain open until at least the end of March 2020. At this stage Wiltshire Council are unable to comment on the viability of the path beyond this date. We need to show them that we want the cycle-path to stay open. It is enjoyed by walkers, runners, cyclists, families and dog walkers alike. We are lucky to have this on our doorstep, so let’s show them how much we care about it.
