We work with local authorities and local people towards a goal of zero waste, 100% reuse and recycling, increasing awareness of the need to reduce waste and increase recycling promoting community-based reuse and recycling schemes.
A-Z Reuse and Recycling Guide for Corsham includes ways to reuse and recycle almost anything, often with the help of local businesses. Paper copies are available at the Recycling Hub, the Town Hall and at other locations in Corsham. Give it a read and keep waste out of landfill!
Refill Corsham was set up in 2019 to help address the plastic pollution problem and help people live with less waste. It is part of the global Refill initiative and originally started as a water refill scheme whereby residents could take their own reusable water bottles to participating businesses and obtain a free tap water refill, thereby saving yet another plastic bottle. Businesses taking part can be identified by Refill window stickers or by downloading the Refill app, which has a map showing business locations. The scheme has now expanded to include businesses who are happy to use residents’ own coffee mugs and shopping/takeaway containers when they make purchases. Over 20 Corsham businesses are now part of the Refill Corsham scheme!
Plastic Waste Free Corsham (PWFC) was launched in July 2018, supported by both Wiltshire and Corsham Town Councils, to encourage Corsham and its residents to go plastic waste free. We have been working with both individuals and local businesses and organisations to reduce their plastic waste. If you are a local business or community organisation in Corsham that would like to get involved with the campaign, why not get in touch?
Corsham Town Council has recently committed to work towards Surfers Against Sewage’ Plastic Free Communities status and we are hoping to work with them to achieve this accreditation for Corsham by the end of 2023.
Why not use the below checklists, for individuals and organisations, to assess how you can reduce your own plastic waste…

Olio is an app which Corsham Climate Action is working to promote in Corsham, to enable residents to Share More and Waste Less. Olio is a free food and non-food sharing app which enables people to share unwanted items, rather than throwing them away. So whether you have a spare loaf of bread or a sofa you no longer want, you can share it with your local community.
You can also borrow and lend everyday household items such as a drill, hedge trimmer or cat carrier. Why buy more ‘things’ which you might only use once or twice a year when you can borrow an item from a neighbour!
